APOWA
was founded in 1999 with a mission of “building a community of
people to support…[the] welfare of animals and [the] environment and
[to] improve relationships between man, animal and environment.”
APOWA acts to
conserve coastal and marine resources, threatened species and
ecosystems in coastal Orissa, choosing solutions that are
sustainable, based on ground work and take account of human needs.
APOWA is committed to saving critically threatened habitats, and
their wildlife. And by saving vital habitats we are also helping
save Life on Earth. Mangroves and coastal resources protect
vulnerable coastal communities and provide essential spawning
grounds for fish and invertebrates.
APOWA aims at
to realize a set of objectives so as to recreate, renovate, revoke,
rehabilitate, protect & promote advancement of all living beings,
structures and lively frame works. APOWA believes in practical work
with high level of awareness in grass root level. It has developed
innovative programmes, undertaken various projects, and built
capacities of the coastal people in the field of environment, animal
welfare and coastal resources. Recognizing the complexity and
vastness of the task, APOWA has worked in partnership with a range
of organization & departments. The strategy has been to collaborate
with others to build synergies, achieve a multiplier effect, enhance
effectiveness and widen the range of programmes.
The initiative
of APOWA is to protect and restore the coastal ecosystems in ways
that benefit animal and marine life, local communities and
economies.
APOWA
builds upon the organization’s core strengths: achieving
demonstrable results; working with a wide range of stakeholders,
science-based, robust conservation planning methodologies; our
experience with transactions; and, perhaps most importantly, our
ability and commitment to back up our strategies.
